Tie-in Works on the Kobuleti Branch of the Kutaisi-Sokhumi Main Gas Pipeline Completed
25 July, 2014
Tie-in works on the Kobuleti Branch of the Kutaisi-Sokhumi main gas pipeline, which started yesterday, have already been completed. Due to rehabilitation works on the 46 km of the Kobuleti Branch, in particular River Natanebi pipeline bridge, gas supply will be suspended to Laituri, Ureki and Ajara consumers on July 25 from 02:00 to 20:00.
Heavy rainfall and flooding affected the Natanebi riverbed and shifted it to the right side. In August 2013, it severed the pipeline section located under the water and removed it from its pier columns. The pier columns of the current pipeline bridge were significantly damaged too. Due to these conditions, the reconstruction of the pipeline bridge proved to be necessary. During the reconstruction works, natural gas was supplied via the temporary pipeline which was restored after the damage.
On request of GOGC reconstruction works on the pipeline bridge located on the River Natanebi were carried out by Ltd Geologi. Tie-in works were implemented by Georgian Gas Transportation Company.
