Kutaisi-Abasha Pipeline Construction Completed

Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation has completed the construction of Kutaisi-Abasha 47 km 700 mm diameter section of the main gas pipeline, implemented within the frames of the East-West Main Gas Pipeline Rehabilitation Project. Currently the pipeline is being tested. As soon as the testing process is completed the section will be connected to the Main Gas Pipeline.
A joint enterprise of Sakmilmsheni and PVI ZIT Naftogazbudizolyatsia implemented the construction works for the Kutaisi-Abasha 47km section of the main gas pipeline. The pipeline construction started in late October 2012 and has been completed in November 2013. The project was supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and its total cost amounted to USD 10 968 425.
The East-West main gas pipeline construction project is aimed at full rehabilitation of the selected section of the pipeline in order to secure safe and reliable supply of natural gas to Poti Free Industrial Zone, industrial-agricultural and recreational zones as well as to the population of West Georgia.
