Gas Transportation via the South Caucasus Pipeline Resumed
07 February, 2014
Yesterday, on February 7, natural gas export volume dropped as technical problems occurred at the Sangachal Terminal, in Azerbaijan. It affected natural gas transportation from the Shah-Deniz field to Georgia and Turkey via the South Caucasus Pipeline.
This morning, gas transportation was resumed as the technical problems have partially been solved, however currently Georgia receives1.8 million cubic meters of natural gas instead of 2.5 million from the Shah-Deniz Field.
In spite of the issues, Georgian distribution companies were fully supplied with natural gas as they received additional volumes from the pipelines of other suppliers.
Azerbaijani experts say that gas exports from Azerbaijan to Georgia would reach normal levels in two days after the problem at the Sangachal Terminal is fully solved.
