11 April, 2014
The employees of Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC) joined a tree-planting campaign – ‘Green Future’ and planted 100 seedlings of Eldar Pine.
The tree planting campaign – ‘Green Future’ was initiated by the Prime Minister of Georgia and aims to plant trees around the town of Marneuli on Marabda field. The project is being implemented in Kvemo Kartli as the region is lacking green spaces. Within the frames of ‘Green future’, it is planned to develop a ‘Green Map’, which will contain description and processing of the places for planting the trees. Forestry Department will identify the place and oversee the division of plots for planting the trees. T
he project also envisages breeding of endangered varieties in the nurseries and their reproduction. The Prime Minister’s initiative ‘Green Future’ envisions planting of 500,000 new trees across the country this year.
‘The employees of GOGC have been taking part in the tree planting campaign for the second consecutive year. This year we join the campaign launced by the Prime minister in order to make our contribution into this important project’, David Tvalabeishvili, General Director of GOGC said. In 2013 GOGC employees planted 140 seedlings of black pine in the Khudadovi forest.
