Adjara and Guria regions are not under threat of termination of gas supply.
The Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation relocated 700 m section of Kutaisi-Sukhumi main gas pipeline Kobuleti branch to the new corridor, eliminating the threat of termination of gas supply to two regions.
The overflowing river Supsa damaged 80 m section near village Zomleti, Chokhatauri region at KP 23 of Kutaisi-Sukhumi main gas pipeline Kobuleti branch and 100 m section near village Dzimiti, Ozurgeti region at KP 34 of the same pipeline in December 2017. Minor gas leaks were also observed at KP 34 and their emergency repairs were carried out. To avoid a large-scale emergency, it became necessary to relocate 700 m pipe to a new corridor.
The Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation constructed a new 700 mm long DN500 section of Kutaisi-Sukhumi main gas pipeline Kobuleti branch with its own resources and machinery within two months. Cut-in works to the operating main gas pipeline were performed on February 6.
